Day 1, Depart
Canada/USA
Departure from Toronto, Montreal or New York (JFK) on our
overnight flight to Cairo. (In-flight meals)
Day 2, Saturday
- Cairo
Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport we will be met
and assisted through immigration and customs then transferred
to our hotel.
Day 3, Sunday
- Cairo
Today we visit the great Pyramids of Giza and their guardian
Sphinx, Memphis - first capital of the ancient kingdom to
see the statue of Ramses II then to Sakkara to see the Step
pyramid. Overnight at our hotel (BL)
Day 4, Monday
- Cairo
This morning we visit the Egyptian Museum which houses the
treasures of King Tut then to the Citadel of Salah Eldien
and Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Overnight at our hotel. (BL)
Day 5, Tuesday
- Aswan
This morning we are transferred to Cairo Airport for our flight
to Aswan. (Optional trip by air to Abu Simbel *). Then we
will be escorted to embark on the Nile cruise ship-our floating
hotel for the next five days. After lunch, we sail by ‘felucca’
a traditional Nile sailing boat, to view Kitchener Island
and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Overnight in Aswan. (BLD)
Day 6, Wednesday
- Komombo / Edfo
Today we visit the impressive Aswan High Dam and its huge
lake, and the Temple of Philae. Then we cruise to Komombo
to visit the Temple shared by the Gods Sobek & Haroeris.
Tonight we enjoy a special costume party featuring Native
Egyptian and pharaonic style. Overnight in Edfo. (BLD)
Day 7, Thursday
- Esna / Luxor
This morning we explore the Temple of Horus, the falcon god.
Then we sail to Esna and continue sailing to Luxor. Overnight
in Luxor. (BLD)
Day 8, Friday
- Luxor
Today we explore the wondrous Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s
Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon. This afternoon we visit
Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. Overnight in Luxor. (BLD)
Day 9, Saturday
- Luxor / Cairo / Alexandria
Today we will be transferred to the airport for our flight
back to Cairo. Then we drive to Alexandria to visit the Greco-Roman
Museum, Catacombs; Pompeii's Pillar, the Roman Theater, the
newly opend Alexandria library. In the antiquity, the library
at Alexandria was the largest and most important library in
the world. In Apr 2002, the library was reopend with the ambition
of reclaming its former glory and prestige. Next we drive
to the Montazah Gardens.Overnight in Alexandria. (B)
Day 10,
Sunday - Alexandria
Today is free at leisure to enjoy the beaches. (Optional :
A unique guided scuba diving tour of Alexandria's harbor to
see the remains of Cleopatra's palace, Sphinx-like statues,
thousands of Pharaonic, Greek and Roman style columns, artifacts
as well as parts of the wall of the light house of Alexandria
one of the seven wonders of the world*). Overnight at our
hotel in Cairo. (BL)
Day 11,
Monday - El Alamein / Cairo
Today we drive to El Alamein to visit the famous World War
II battle field between Rommel & Montgomery. Visit the
British, German & Italian cemeteries. Then we drive to
Cairo and the balance of the day is free at leisure for last
minute shopping or relax by the pool. Overnight in Cairo (B)
Day 12, Tuesday - Depart Cairo
Today we will be transferred to Cairo International Airport
for our overnight flight back home. (B & in-flight meals)
